Tonight the Oscar's will be broadcast live from Hollywood. George Reeves had many wonderful performances, most notable in films such as Always a Bride, Man At Large and his most famous, Superman and the Mole Men. His own prize performance came with So Proudly we Hail!, directed by Mark Sandrich. In the 40's George went into the military service to serve his country during WWII. During this period, George performed in military short films and most notable, Winged Victory, on stage and in film. Before leaving, Mr. Sandrich encouraged George and noted he would have large plans for him once he completed his obligation. Sandrich's plan was to make George a major leading-man film star. However, fate intervened and unfortunately Mr. Sandrich died before George received his honorable discharge to resume his film career. While Mr. Sandrich's passing cannot be an exact defining moment in the career of George Reeves, it still stands to reason he believed in George's abilities.
