October 6, 1951 – Saturday
Seventy years ago on this date Walter Canby thought he could take care of Superman in a little place he had rigged up at Dover's Cliff near Willow Falls. The establishing shot used for that "little place" is actually the Getty Mansion along the Pacific Coast Highway. Superman kept his appointment and the professor turned on the current. [Superman didn't deliver Canby to White's office, however, until the following Tuesday.]
After taking care of that bit of business (or more likely, before), Clark Kent comforted his mother after Eben suffered a heart attack and died. As with Joe Mell, this was Sam Flint's only day on the set, so these two scenes are fairly certain.
Most likely everyone looked forward to having Sunday off... and then they'd return on Monday to begin the final week of first season production.
We'll return to the "Adventures of Superman" in just a moment.
