If we were to stay on the same side of the street and walk in the direction of the Mayberry Courthouse, we would have a view of the town very similar to the shot that appears in "The Deserted Village" immediately after Kent says, "Lois... these houses are empty... deserted." In the distance we can see the bell tower and church which was called All Souls church on The Andy Griffith Show. In the center of the picture is the Hotel Silsby (see next paragraph).

As we continue walking toward the church, we pass the entrance to the Hotel Silsby on our right. This structure later served as the Mayberry Post Office.
